Latest News Shamwari Group Honours Earth Hour
28 March 2012

Shamwari Game Reserve, Sanbona Wildlife Reserve and Jock Safari Lodge all part of the Shamwari Group will each celebrate Earth Hour on Sunday, 31 March 2012 at 8:30pm.

Shamwari Game Reserve situated in the malaria free Eastern Cape, near Port Elizabeth, will turn off its electricity at each lodge and game rangers will present guests with an educational stargazing opportunity. Guests who participate will be asked to sign their names in a book to commemorate 2012’s Earth Hour.

Jock Safari Lodge situated in the southern area of the Kruger National Park, will present guests with a decadent bush dinner which will be followed by an educational stargazing opportunity.

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve, near Cape Town along route 62, will also switch off all electricity and guests will be given an environmental presentation by Alouise Lynch who is Sanbona Wildlife Reserve’s Human and Environmental Resource Manager. This environmental presentation will educate guests on how Sanbona strives to reduce its carbon footprint and the ongoing initiatives it has implemented to protect the environment.

All properties within the Shamwari Group are audited yearly which is facilitated by the Greenleaf Environmental Standard in order to ensure they adhere to all the greening initiatives they have implemented.
