On the 4th of July we spotted the first sighting of the Wild Dog pups at Jock Safari Lodge. They were denning by a rocky outcrop on the concession and the Endangered Wildlife Trust had set up a camera trap outside the den to monitor the pack.
We have seen four pups in total and they are all looking in good condition. The camera trap captured a great image of three of the pups, which you can see below.
Since then, the wild dogs have moved the pups to a different den site that is also on the concession. Wild Dogs often move den sites when the pups are old enough as den sites get infested with fleas.
We are keeping a low profile at the den site as we want them to settle in. However on game drive we often see the adults out hunting and have seen them make a few kills around camp!
