2. LIGHTS OFF. Turn the lights off every time you leave a room and save an average of 397kg of CO2 a year, as well as knocking 20% off your electricity bill.

4. CHOOSE TAP WATER. Mineral water gets transported all around the world and the plastic bottles left behind after consumption are clogging up the oceans.

6. RECYCLE. Making steel from recycled tins and cans takes 75% less energy than making steel from scratch.
7. MAKE YOUR OWN COMPOST. Air cannot get to the organic waste in a landfill. Therefore as the waste breaks down it creates a harmful greenhouse gas, methane, which damages the Earth's atmosphere. When you compost this waste above ground at home, oxygen helps the waste to decompose aerobically which means hardly any methane is produced.
8. TAKE SHORTER SHOWERS. Cutting 2 minutes off your showering time will save 16,425 litres of water a year Ė and youíll still smell just as fresh
9. CYCLE. Benefit your well being and the earthís and use more pedal power. Find your cities cycle routes online.
