The Shamwari Group, of which Jock Safari Lodge is a part of, launched their Celebrity Ambassador Rhino Calendar just before World Rhino Day on the 22nd of September to help raise awareness and much needed funds for the plight of the rhino.
It was a very successful launch, held at the Grand Café & Room in Camps Bay and was attended by travel partners, members of the public and the celebrity ambassadors who donated their time for a very good cause.
Tom Jager, the Sales & Marketing Manager for the Shamwari Group, thanked all the local celebrities who were involved and outlined what the Shamwari Group is actively doing for rhino conservation through our Forever Wild Campaign.
Shamwari Group General Manager Joe Cloete, who helped establish our sister reserve, Shamwari Game Reserve in the early '90s, made a moving speech about the challenges faced on the ground at the game reserves due to poaching and especially thanked all the anti poaching teams who are putting their lives on the line around the clock to help protect the rhino.
All proceeds will be presented to the Wilderness Foundation through the Shamwari Group’s Forever Wild Campaign, which has already during the course of 2012 raised just over R240 000 for rhino awareness and protection.
